Gifts of Real Estate
An individual may sell real estate and donate the proceeds to CROSS.

However, the real estate may be donated to CROSS outright. This has the potential for double income tax savings. If the property has appreciated in value, the donation can be made free of capital gains taxes while also allowing one to deduct the full value of the property as a charitable gift. If the property has declined in value, the capital loss deduction (to the extent allowed under the tax code) may still be available as well. To understand how this can be applied to your current tax situation, it is best to speak about this with your tax advisor or attorney.

To receive more information regarding this form of donation, please contact us at 252.809.3553 or use our online email form.

Donate a Vehicle
Do you have an older car, truck, van, trailer, RV or boat taking up valuable space in your driveway? Car donations support CROSS's mission of eliminating poverty housing and homelessness and save you the time and energy of finding a buyer. To learn more about donating a vehicle please contact us at 252.809.3553 or use our online email form.
House Sponsorship
The full price of the house (new build or rehab) is completely underwritten by the sponsoring church, company, foundation, estate, or individual. The sponsor's name is listed on signage on the house during the time of construction. A press release would be issued, and recognition is given in Habitat's newsletter and in the dedication program.

The sponsor is invited to visit and/or volunteer on the work site, meet the volunteers, and have an opportunity to know the family that will be the new homeowner. A minimum of $5,000 provides partial house sponsorship. The sponsor’s name will appear on the signage on the house during construction along with other sponsors that may also be part of the project. Recognition will be given in CROSS's newsletter and in the dedication program, and an invitation to the work site is extended to see the progress of the work underway.

The sponsor benefits from the community rebuilding recognition it receives. Team building opportunities are also available for management and employee leaders. Houses are added to the tax roles, and neighborhoods are stabilized with home ownership occupants. Construction materials are purchased locally helping businesses to sell product and provide employment opportunities. To learn more about sponsoring a house please contact us at 252.809.3553 or use our online email form.
